John Miller

A groundbreaking media executive (FOX, MTV, The Weinstein Company, WeTv) and courageous content producer for major Tech brands,(Google Cloud, Looker, Pendo) Miller has worked in television and media for almost thirty years.  In college, Miller created shows for local cable channels which secured his first job as a producer for a CBS affiliate.   As Director of Development for Foxlab, he created, developed, and produced TV’s first-ever hospital-based reality program, “Trauma Center”.  At MTV, Miller developed, produced, and oversaw projects that helped create MTV’s golden age- and led to some of the highest-rated series in MTV’s history, including “The Tom Green Show,” “JACKASS,” “Viva La Bam” and “Wild Boyz.”  His programming played an important role in MTV’s  “10 Spot” time-slot branding. He also served as EIC of the ongoing iconic series “The Real World,” and “Road Rules” for over eight years.  As EVP, Original Series & Animation, Miller managed development and current for two depts., and developed animated series “Clone High” (rebooting now for HBO MAX) and “Spiderman.”  He also planned and guided the day-to-day strategy and creative direction of the channel as a member of MTV’s senior council. He was honored to be listed in The Hollywood Reporter’s “35 under 35”, and to receive a Peabody award for the co-creation, and creative oversight of the series, “Biorhythm”.  As a producer, Miller held overall deals with Telepictures and Touchstone and directed/produced TV pilot/presentations with a few cameras, a Mac, and gallons of coffee.  As EVP, of TV for The Weinstein Company, he developed new programming, hid from Harvey, and oversaw “Project Runway,” & “No. One Ladies Detective Agency” as well as 6 docu-series pilots.  While SVP Program Development at WeTV, Miller developed and launched the channel’s biggest hit series ever, “Braxton Family Values” and “Tamar and Vince” which rejuvenated the network and delivered an entirely new, lucrative demo. He developed brand-defining hit shows, “Downsized,” “Joan and Melissa” and “Mary-Mary” and managed the series “My Fair Wedding” and “Bridezillas” to higher ratings and quality.  Miller's media production company, LOCOMOJO, created TV concepts for companies like A and E, consulted for Evolution Productions, and developed story-based digital campaigns for brands and individuals for their social channels.  At Google Cloud/Looker, Miller produced/ directed multi-cam video, webinars, instructional videos, promos, brand videos, and videos for large digital conferences.    At Pendo, Miller Ideated/produced wildly creative “glass breaking” videos and concepts for the Brand Department including the high-impact “PLG Teardown” video series and “Pendo-Blendo” infomercial parody which led to over 30% higher engagement than average posts in the previous 5 years. Miller is a proud father of two hilarious teens. He serves on the national advisory board for the National Broadcasting Society and damages his hearing as a blues and rock guitarist.
